So, you've decided to get some professional photos done...awesome! It probably goes without saying that I LOVE that you've made that decision! Haha! I also know that the thought of a photoshoot can cause some anxiety, too. What should you (your family) wear? How will you possibly feel comfortable in front of the camera? What if my kids don't behave? Whether you've had photos done before or you're a totally new to the experience, there are a few things you can do to make your session a fun, stress-free, successful experience!

Tip #1: Prepare Ahead of Time

Once you have a date and time for your session, start preparing! The best place to start is deciding what to wear. Do not wait until the night before or day of the shoot!!! Outfits take time and thought and this decision should not be made lightly! What you wear to your session most definitely has an impact on your final images. Always dress to impress and make sure you're comfortable. Here are a few things to avoid: busy prints, neon colors, material prone to wrinkles and anything with large logos. Neutral colors, subtle prints, and comfortable pieces are a great start! If you need a little inspiration, Pinterest is a GREAT rescource!

Tip #2: Be on Time

I can't stress enough how important being on time is for a successful session! Being on time is an easy way to start off on the right foot and start a stress-free shoot! For most people, running late causes anxiety and stress...not a good way to start a photoshoot! This is one of the reasons that preparing ahead of time is so important. Sometimes things happen that cause you to be a little late and there's nothing you can do about. And that's ok! If something comes up and being late is unavoidable, please be sure to keep in touch and keep me informed. I can then adjust my plan to make sure you still get the best possible session!

Tip #3: Let Me Do the Hard Work

When you get to your shoot, chance are you'll be a little nervous! Maybe you're worried you won't know how to pose or your kids won't cooperate or your just anxious about the entire process. Let me assure you, these feelings are totally normal! But the great part is, you don't have to worry about any of that! I will guide you into poses that will work for you and your family. If the kids are not into the whole getting their photos taken thing, no worries! I have four kids of my own so I completely understand! Small bribes, such as candy or other favorite treats work wonders! And sometimes capturing those very real, in-the-moment photos turn out to be the parents' favorite! Your job is to just relax, listen to my prompts, laugh a LOT, and know that we're going to end up with some amazing photos!
